In April of this year, I joined @Aisthisi Discord to collab on the NFT project. Aisthisi is an experiment to integrate digital and physical assets into an NFT to create a full experience for a collector.

The team behind the Aisthisi:

Tech: 2 developers Marin and Thomas from USA and Austria decided to unite to examine the relationship between digital/physical assets via NFT.

Creators: 10 artists from 10 countries. Russia, USA, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Australia, South Africa, Greece, France, and Portugal. Artists came together to create digital artworks, and design labels for 0.5l bottles of exxtraspecial omphakinon olive oil produced by a small farm in Greece.

Olive Oil: small yet award-winning olive oil farm located in Methoni, Greece. Producing Koroneiki extra virgin olive oil, hand-harvested and transformed by Elisabeth Tsapekis. Elisabeth will prepare omphakinon olive oil — a special kind, unfiltered and super fresh. It also has bright, rich neon-green color.

Aisthisi will donate a portion of all NFT sales to DESMOS disaster recovery services for those recently affected by the Greek wildfires.

I’ve been watching the space for a bit. Designed the NFT game Ether Freakers with over 400 characters minted in collaboration with Jared Flatow, a developer working for Compound. I designed modular avatars “Freakersgenerated in the hash of ERC721. My first NFT was shipped to Justin Sun’s wallet. So I can proudly say that I am a blue chip NFT artist lol.

I was lucky to accumulate a few dev friends and learn contract integrations firsthand. Did a few Open Zeppelin workshops. If you are an artist and wanna learn more about the technology Open Zeppelin is a great place to start. Also try joining NFT Hackathons ETHGlobal is the place to be if you are looking to make a shift.

I am mainly playing with ownership by creating a digital asset, and archiving pieces from my collection of antique graphics by scanning them. Adding the rainbow cos we are here and we are queer. ✨

Technically:

  • ✨ By scanning the image I am saving it from the abyss.
  • ✨ By minting tokens I am archiving the work and saving it for future generations.
  • ✨ Visual representation of the token is always available to the public
  • ✨ always on view/always on chain regardless of price fluctuation.
  • ✨ My authorship aka certificate of authenticity and royalties + charity funds sealed within the smart contract and validated by blocks.
  • ✨ By transferring ownership to the collector, work finds its “caregiver”.

In the trader's world handling and care is a huge financial concerns. And in todays optic is NOT SUSTAINABLE. With NFTs, this whole storage and handling are entirely executed by blockchain and a tiny bit of Eth. Yes, some say that gas is too expensive. Well… Try shipping your freshly bought art piece from one country to another.

Secondary market:

Struggle is real ^^

I am curious to see the secondary market evolving beyond Crypto Punks. Big auction houses jumping in the mix with their white gloves and history of super shady dealings, need to take huuuge percentages of sales from authors/artists aka not giving back to the community is insane to me. In my personal experience with auction house est. in 1707 you get 18 percent. It’s not fun. We have enough marketplaces and protocols to run successful sales without institutions. Get a first-class collectors experience and provide transparency for the public.

The auction will be live on rarible Sept. 2 to Sept. 7th. 🤑

Aisthisi will donate a portion of all NFT sales to DESMOS disaster recovery services for those recently affected by the Greek wildfires.
